About Us

Founded in 1975, Bont began when Inze Bont, a recreational skater decided to fiberglass the back of his leather skates to gain extra support. This simple, yet innovative approach started a company now in its 45th year, with product ranges across two highly competitive sports and sales in more than 56 countries.

Inze's innovation saw Bont as the first footwear manufacturer to commercially use materials such as fiberglass in 1975, Kevlar in 1986 and carbon in 1989. Bont's philosophy continues to this day with a focus on the production of high-quality products and continual development while remaining the largest and most successful producer of handmade speed skates in the world.

After continual requests to expand the product line, the decision was made to enter the cycling market. Bont Cycling turned to the sport's very best athletes to help launch its initial offering of cycling shoes. Proving itself immediately, Bont Cycling shoes were worn to capture eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Harnessing over 40 years of high-performance design and manufacturing, Bont Cycling continues to dedicate itself to producing the world's most technically advanced and anatomically correct cycling shoes. Designed and built to withstand the rigours of professional cycling across all disciplines, Bont Cycling shoes have been ridden to major victories across road, time trial, track and triathlon disciplines.

Bont Cycling's current trophy case includes 15 Tour de France stage wins including an overall title with Sir Bradley Wiggins, one stunning Paris-Roubaix victory, an Olympic time trial title, countless Olympic and World Championship track medals, three IRONMAN World Championships and two 70.3 IM Championships. Bont Cycling currently offers 13 standard models covering road, triathlon, track, time trial, MTB, BMX and gravel requirements with up to 19 sizes, four widths along with four models available in semi and full-custom design.

Bont Cycling and Bont Rowing are independent entities to Bont Skates.
